LTF 1

Development:
We're very proud of a premiere:
First time in NOVA history we are able to present you a new wing, already having certified it in 5 sizes!
Even LTF1 is the hardest certification class, our development team was able to have the PRIMAX XXS, XS, S, M and L successfully tested by the DHV test pilots. Even the XXS (19sqm) passed the DHV test flight successfully without any problem!
Based on the SYNTAX, the PRIMAX is even safer: even better damping around all axes, even more brake travel, even softer reactions in all manoeuvres.
It's safety is unbelievable, which made it very easy to pass all certification test flights for all sizes in such a short time. The concept is very forgiving: For the XXS it was for example not necessary to change a single line length from the Computer calculated prototype! Only the brakes were adapted. So the optimal trim was already there: no loss in performance, comfort or handling. No compromises, no work for our test pilots. :-)

During development we didn't have to deal with big problems. All the prototypes were flying like we expected. So we had time to do some aging simulation: we washed a PRIMAX wing for hours in a big US army washing machine to be sure that it will last long in even the hardest conditions (more details and pics later). As expected:
The famous Gelvenor cloth is almost undestroyable! We also changed the line geometry to simulate the effect of aging line material. We were surprised to see how much change of line geometry the PRIMAX can handle without loosing its safe flyingbehavior.
And the best of all: The PRIMAX is great fun to fly! Despite the long brake travel, the wing reacts quite fast to brake inputs. Wingovers are easy, and the performance and handling in thermals are great. We haven't experienced such enjoyable and easy flying characteristics on a LTF1 wing before. Saftey has never been such fun before! :-)

Safety:
Like the ROOKIE, the PRIMAX doesn't spiral with more than 15m/sec without special input. All spirals are exiting very soon. The roll damping is big enough to enable a easy spiral exit, even for beginners.
The asymmetric collapses open very fast but soft at the same time. It appears that pilots like soft collapses and soft re-opening. Hard collapses and "explosive" reopening frightens many pilots, especially pilots with little experience, and leads to instability.
The PRIMAX changes direction very little after asymmetric collapses and gives the pilot a lot of time to react. Also the pitch movement is very small. All this combined enables the PRIMAX pilot to experience even collapses the safest way possible.
It is almost impossible to do an unintended spin with the PRIMAX. But if the PRIMAX starts to spin, all the pilot has to do is release the brakes a little bit, and the wing will recover immediately and return to a normal flight position.
Technical Changes:
The PRIMAX has the following changes compared to its predecessor the PHERON:
- very different canopy construction: diagonal ribs: very few attachments, very few lines: less drag, better performance
- different airfoils (based on the Syntax): very soft collapsing, extremely good low speed behaviour - more aggressive sail tensions: handling, wing rigidity
- canopy curve, line length: handling, better roll stability
Main characteristics:
- The NOVA PRIMAX is a basic wing certified with class 1 for a huge pilot's target group: from the beginner to the experienced comfort oriented pilot. The PRIMAX offers a synthesis of very good pitch and roll damping with dynamic handling. It's thermalling performance is outstanding in that class, as well as it's safety level sets the new reference.
- The NOVA PRIMAX inspires with it's simple efficiency and easy handling on the training hill as well as with it's safety and comfort even in rough conditions. Even in rough turbulences the pilot feels safe and comfortable like in a soft sofa. Never ever before, paragliding was that safe and relaxing.
- The Primax impressed our testteam the most with its extremely high safety level.
